Green Cleaning Can be Easy and Fun, Plus My Best House & Health Tips

Consumerism, Health & Disease — by Peter Greg July 26, 2011

When I first remember seeing the ‘conventional’ way of cleaning bathtubs, with my mum bent over with a scrubbing brush, groans of effort and beads of sweat on her forehead, with the chemical smell of Jif (or Cif in other countries) floating through the air and her nostrils, I knew there had to be a better way. So it’s in the spirit of helping others avoid these chemicals, that I have decided to compile some of my favourite Green Household/Health tips that are cleaner, easier, more effective and in most cases much more enjoyable than conventional methods.

You will have the added benefit of keeping those toxic chemicals out of your house and body and will save money as well. I will start with household first and health in the second part of this article.

1. Household

Bicarb Soda is brilliant for bathtubs.

In the face of growing problems with climate change, and the unpredictable rumblings of the economy and housing challenges of the USA, there seems to be a wonderfully positive and exciting revolution/movement happening in the United States and in other places of the world: the Tiny House movement.

A Delicate Balance (Documentary)

Biodiversity, Consumerism, Deforestation, Food Shortages, Global Warming/Climate Change, Health & Disease, Livestock, Society — by Peter Greg December 7, 2010

I found this film very interesting and well researched, and would highly recommend it to counter much of the nutrition disinformation out there and get the full picture.

Three years in the making, A Delicate Balance is a succinct production featuring candid, heartfelt interviews with some of the world’s leading experts.

It gives you answers to the questions you never thought to ask, and sets you on the path to asking the questions the animal products corporations hoped you never would… Most importantly, it proves that life is a delicate balance – and we can all tip the scales.

Nominated for Best Unreleased Documentary by the Australian Film Critics Association, this film is a must-see for everyone who cares about their health, their loved ones and their home. — adelicatebalance.com.au

Social Indoctrination and Geoengineering

Alternatives to Political Systems, Consumerism, Economics, People Systems, Society, Village Development — by Peter Greg November 6, 2010

by Peter Greg

A friend shared this video series (at bottom) with me, and I thought it was one of the most brilliant and impactful summaries of the madness of social indoctrination and control in our materialistic culture, and some effective solutions to deal with it. Yes some may deem it controversial, but as the famous author George Orwell aptly put it "In a time of universal deceit — telling the truth is a revolutionary act."

And I will pre-empt this article with a gentle challenge: If these words bring up anger or negative emotions, or even accusations of being a ‘conspiracy theorist’, I ask you, are 262 million killed in the last 100 years (Google ‘democide’) not enough to show the utter madness of this collective path of materialism and consumerism we walk on?

Scrap Raft crosses Atlantic Ocean: Housing totally Redefined!

Building, Consumerism, Society, Urban Projects, Waste Systems & Recycling — by Peter Greg October 21, 2010

"Son of Town Hall"

I came across the Floating Nuetrinos website a few days ago, and it totally blew my mind! My existing paradigms around housing and my childhood dream of living on the water have been blown out of the box. I’ve been thinking lately about living and growing food on a boat, and not wanting to spend many thousands of dollars, have been investigating either building a raft, houseboat or yacht out of recycled materials. This would be a great sea-faring compliment to my current permaculture housing project, which is converting a diesel van converted to run on vegetable oil and used as a permie camper.
