I was given a rusted aviary which i have raised on star pegs and replaced the floor with galv mesh . the eggs are laid in a box at the back, and the chickens fly up to a hole at the top of the aviary to let themselves in and out . theis has worked well for years until i started taking our dog for a walk at dawn . i lost 2 chickens to a fox . now i close their door at night and let them out when i am home . The aviary could easily be put on your trailer, and the droppings would land on the ground , saving cleaning . it is a great system for those who are not always home to lock up the chickens . My perches are arranged like yours inside . the top one goes outside , and that is what the birds fly to

Love it! Nothing feels better than building your own and it brings so much satisfaction when you repurpose something that may have been destined for scrap or a tip heap.

My local chook seller has a modified trailer but purposed for selling and uses the layers concept. The bottom layer is for bags of feed and chook poo for sale. The second layer is open cages accessed from right or left side of the trailer and on top of that is another layer of cages. Ducks and larger poultry are on the first level and smaller on top.

I don't think I'll have one but I do enjoy looking at the practicality and efficiency in designs that show thought that went into it.

Keep on building!

Cheers,
Peter

Hey Ringo - Nice Chicken Coop. You could have built yourself a decent aquaponics system from that tank if it wasn't rusted through! Next time eh?... :)
