Hi Benjamin,
after reading with interest your article and your reply to one email inquiry bellow I wander if you would be interested in a contract ploughing for me near Ballarat.
I have bought there a 100+ acres property (settling on it mid April) and I'd love to start with soil fertility improvements without an delay.
I would like to have done as much as possible before the end of June (and pay for it / tax reasons). Would you be interested?
Regards

Folks,

Some selective memory being practiced by Abe Collins, as he and I discussed this topic at length in 2005 as it concerned our Clear Choice (c) use on pastures of seed pellets via Masanobu Fukuoka. Seed Pellets allow the combination of various seed sizes independent of ballistic difference between types.

Well done both Ben and Abe, just the same!

Hi Ben,
Nice work on your frame. I rigged a liquid injector and Gandy seeder to our Keyline plow this summer, injecting 3.8 gallons/minute into 3-5 rips, but not foliar spraying. Dropped 18 varieties of seed in the rips, taking a cue from the "Burleigh County Boys" of North Dakota (Gabe Brown and others) who have pioneered this amazing practice of "cocktail cover cropping."
We received no rain after my ripping up until winter dormancy, but still got a lot of germination, especially italian rye, turnips, pasja, tillage radishes, winter cereals.
I really liked what I saw with the tillage radishes....many grew as large as my forearm straight into the rips.
The liquid injected was dilute raw milk, fish hydrolysate we had laying about, very small amounts of copper and zinc, and traces of effective microorganisms and sea-crop minerals. No compost tea, the rigging of the plow had taken all the available time. Tea and mycofungi are obvious next steps, just didn't have it together to do them.

Also rigged a roller on the plow this summer, which made a big difference in achieving an ideal finish.
Keep up the great work, good to hear about others getting tricky with the plows and working to optimize conditions for plant growth, soil critters and humification.

Good luck! I'm seeing a pattern emerge of concerned family members looking to undo land damage. It's very encouraging.

G'day Catherine,

I have a plough (obviously, since I wrote the article!), and Taranaki Farm is located in Woodend which isn't far from you. I'm available for contract ploughing if you like.

I believe they use Darren Doherty's plow down at Dalpura. Another contact is David Griffith ( http://geometree.com.au/ ).

All the best,
Ben
